Last Supper is an average rock band that plays exactly what you
would expect from a bunch of folks raised on alternative rock and
grunge. You will be very disappointed if you come into Served
anticipating anything new or different - these thirteen songs are all
very normal - blandly so, oftentimes - and if you're into originality,
you'll have to look elsewhere.
All things considered, principal songwriter Dan Shwetz has
done a decent job with these songs. Sure, they are frequently
dull, but he has captured the sound of mainstream alternative rock
quite well; with a bit more energy and crisper recording, Last
Supper could land a few of their tunes on popular radio
charts. "Justify" and "Crazy", for example,
show some serious melodic potential. The former boasts a neat
(albeit overused) complex percussive element, as well as a brooding,
menacing chorus not far from Vex Red and White Zombie
territory.
Overall, this disc is pretty boring - though, given it's genre, it
isn't at all a failure.
