Im not all that up on the fine divisions between punk subgenres,
but the press materials for Blatant Fingers new EP depict
Eight for the Road as a mish-mash of early American punk rock
styles. Youve got some Califonia skate-punk, some Midwest hardcore,
and even a dash of East Coast influence. So,
punk rock then. These songs are decently
spirited but altogether pretty bland. Covers of The Rolling Stones
As Years Go By and classic Poison ballad Every Rose Has Its
Thorn add a little familiarity, but dont remedy a lack of
originality. Perhaps the classic punk stylings of Not in Our World
and EP-best Hearts Done Breakin will be enjoyed by genre
enthusiasts; however, taken together this is fairly cookie-cutter
stuff.
