Sediment House

"~Life, Love, and the Pur$uit Of Poverty~" CD

Deevel

Genres: heavy metal, hard rock

Oct 13 - 19 2003

SEDiMENT HOUSE is your average modern heavy metal band - think Saliva - who mix early metal concepts with modern gloss and mainstream pop appeal.  Some of the songs on ~Life, Love, and the Pur$uit Of Poverty~ are better than others, although overall this album is pretty familiar and relatively unoriginal.

"Nice Shine" is one of the album's highlights.  It's a strong, overtly melodic tune with some nice guitar soloing.  Interestingly, it is followed by a much less mainstream-styled tune called "TTMV," which is aggressive and explosive in the vein of Opeth and In Flames, except less extravagant.  The angry and yet silly-named "Poop" is also convincingly ferocious.

The tracks on ~Life, Love, and the Pur$uit Of Poverty~ are all solid and rockin', but none of it is original or particularly interesting.  This definitely has mainstream potential but lacks anything great.
