Hello reader. How are you doing today? What's that? You're feeling like a good dose of experimental IDM? Well, what a coincidence! That's exactly the type of music that Mochipet makes!

Mochipet, an unfortunately unknown artist from Los Angeles, has just released a new album on the criminally obscure Btrendy label. Not only that, it's free! Yes, if you go over to www.mochipet.com, you'll be able to order yourself a free cdr. A free cdr. But enough about the price (or lack of one), how's the music? Well, to tell the truth, it's pretty darn good. There are a whole plethora of IDM musicians out there, and Mochipet actually manages to stand out from the rest. Take "Chicken Guiro," for example. Combining broken beats and wonderfully selected samples, the song manages to be both hilarious and enjoyable. The sounds of a singing chicken go irresistibly well with the complex beats and synth melodies. It sounds somewhat like a less-turntable based Coldcut track.

Meanwhile, "Wu-Tang O.D.B. Shimmy Remix" is a play on rap music. Mochipet takes samples from rap songs, heavily manipulates them, and then flawlessly inserts them into his songs. The result is a noisy, harsh, yet amazingly funky track that could turn out to be of the most enjoyable IDM songs of the year.

But that's not all. There's also a twisted, contorted banjo song, an awesome remix of a Radiohead song, and tons more. This could, quite possibly, be one of the best IDM albums of the 2002. Go over to Mochipet's website and ORDER THIS! IT'S FREE!! WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT??
