Little Mountain

"Wolves For Winter" CDEP

Yellow Parka Music

Genres: acoustic pop, singer / songwriter, indie pop

June 2006

Little Mountain is the acoustic project of Joshua Deeter, an emotional songsmith from Brooklyn with a penchant for longing, sorrowful songs. You know when rock records have one depressing, acoustic guitar song that's included to "even the album out"? That's what the Wolves For Winter EP is comprised of entirely, which is okay for these four songs, but may grow tiresome when stretched out for a full album. The compositions themselves are a little basic (nothing groundbreaking here), but the relaxed, folky atmosphere keeps things pleasant enough to make such issues excusable. Lengthy (six and a half minutes) closer "Oh... Lost Sons" is the strongest track on Wolves For Winter; its depressed melody subdues and relaxes, with just the right level of catchiness to keep you entertained.
