The Wannabe Hasbeens

"Former Trans Future Vol. 1" CDR EP

self-released

Genre: alt rock, pop/rock

December 2007

What you get with The Wannabe Hasbeens is competently written late-90s/early-2000s alternative rock music, replete with decent hooks and enough energy to keep people listening. There isn't a fragment of originality on this six song EP, but for melodic reasons alone, "Hey, George Bailey" and "Gimme Substance" have the potential to win over a decent set of fans. I could see these guys perhaps getting things together and landing a minor radio single, but their lack of a distinctive sound will prevent them from amassing a dedicated and long-lasting fanbase - unless they add something of their own to the music in the future. Keep at it, guys - it sounds like you've got the chops.
