I don't have much information on this CD so I'll have to go with what I can make out myself.  Fortune Morning are an Atlanta indie rock band with a penchant for lo-fi recording and catchy, wholesome melodies.  Their sound is some parts Sebadoh, some parts Will OldhamJa Wohl is their debut album, and it's been released on the Old Man Roulette microlabel.

Jah Wohl sees Fortune Morning at what is presumably their best, coming through terrifically with a catchy dose of just-as-prescribed indie rock.  Occasionally Fortune Morning will be laidback and moody (the folk-y second and fourth tracks), occasionally they'll be brash and energetic (the first and seventh tracks).  That's just the way they work.  Also, they seem to have limitless influences, including Pavement, Archers of Loaf, and Modest Mouse.  All done in a blanket of lo-fi obscurity.

Overall, this is a very interesting release.  I suppose the material isn't that different or original, but it's surprisingly satisfying.  I bet I'll be humming these tunes tomorrow.
