"High Swan Dive" CD

Self-released

Genres: folk-rock, alt country

Aug 8 - 14 2005

On High Swan Dive BTS provide warm, country-tinged folk music that is very pleasant but at times a bit drawn-out. However, while these songs can be a bit too long for their own good, the wandering, melodic feel they share keeps things from becoming unentertaining. For example, I enjoy the laidback, relaxed sound of "Six Years" but will admit its chorus becomes a bit repetitive. The dreary, harmonica-drenched title-track is also quite pleasant, though it's loose style can make it more suitable for background music than anything else. All in all, High Swan Dive is a perfectly enjoyable album - it works best as background music, but has a solid enough framework to sustain a patient listener's attention as well. I would like to see their songs shortened a bit, but they have a strong style nonetheless - and that's what's going to carry them in the future.
