Mmmm.... this is some good
stuff! Lots of great indie rock style, lots of great hooks, lots of great music! There are
a few different genres represented here. Although most of this is just good ol' fashioned
indie rock, there are some instrumental bits, and even a little bit of offbeat, more
experimental material. Strong songs by bands like Martly and Atomsplit add a nice,
powerful element to some of these pieces; something to jerk violently to. In contrast,
there are also some more calm songs by bands like Hurricane Jane and Dog King, similar to
that of Julie Doiron and Cat Power. Some of the more eclectic stuff here includes an
instrumental number by Liberty Circuit called "Secret Siren," which has a slight
60s influence going on. As well, there are a few other oddball tracks here, to satisfy
your more experimental cravings. All in all, this would probably most suit somebody who
just wants to listen to some good ol' catchy indie rock in the vein of Guided By Voices
and Pavement.
