Surface of Eceon - The King Beneath the Mountain
(Strange Attractors Audio House - www.strange-attractors.com)
[Genres: ambient rock, drone rock, space rock]
Mmmm...
this is just divine. Layers of ambient guitars, bass, percussion and synths drone along,
meandering through a misty valley of sound. You're floating, everything is moving by
slowly. The fog is lifting now. The sun is peeking through. Slowly, you're carried away,
into the horizon. This isn't just an album, this is an experience. Sometimes it's peaceful
and relaxing, sometimes it's crashing and devastating. There is no single feeling that is
carried out over this entire album, it's a cacophony. But what else can you expect from
musicians who also belong to Landing and Yume Bitsu? This is wonderful stuff, similar to
bands like Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Sigur Ros, and, at times, Mogwai. Play this with
somebody you love, on a hill, in a park, at 3 AM. Or, just sit at home, dim the lights,
and lie back. This is fascinating, exhilerating, relaxing, amazing stuff.
Congratulations, and welcome to one of the best albums of 2001.

Top Tracks: Although this is broken down into
tracks, I think this is perfect as one, long piece.
