Path of Allyson - Better Hallway Vision (CDR)

Mmm... these are some nice, rockin' tunes. All of this stuff is great for
indie rockers and indie popsters alike, but, there is a catch. Maybe it was just me, maybe
not. When I was first listening to it, I thought that it was just dull guitar, vocals, and
drums. Nothing clicked in my brain, nothing sounded particularily good. The second time I
listened to it, still nothing. Even the third and fourth times yielded no interest. But,
when the fifth time came around, all of the sudden it started to sound good. Quite good.
Finally, the hooks popped out and it begun to get catchy. The riffs sounded awesome. The
whole experience was great. But why was it so bland at the beginning? Often, an album
won't be up to par on first listen, but after four listens?? Was there something wrong
with me? Did I get some sort of "brain tapeworm"? Is baby powder really made of
talcum? Questions begun to pop up everywhere. Regardless, this album, on it's fifth
listen, was a gem. 'Twas full of catchy gems reminiscent of music by Guided By Voices, the
Strokes, and even the Queens of the Stone Age! If you get this, which I suggest you do,
make sure to give it time.
