Noumena - Regression Now for the Future
(Gameboy Records - gameboyrecords.com)
[Genres: noise, improv, experimental]
This
is a really good noise album by Noumena, the dual guitar improvisational duo of Aaron
Hibbs and Mike Shiflet. Although both have had side-projects, their music together is also
really good. There are only 2 songs on this cd, one is 30 minutes long, the other is 20.
Despite the length, both of these songs remain interesting throughout their whole length.
It also comes in a diy printed-on cardboard cd case and a butterfly sticker. What more
could you want?? The first piece is notably more quiet and minimailistic than the
second piece, this cd covers a very wide range of styles. It is a good way to learn
about the basic styles Noumena incorporate into their music. In a way, this is
similar to Caspar Brotzmann's instrumental work (for example, his "Mute
Massaker" album). So there you have it. Two guitars, two minds, two
pieces: complete and utter diy noise blisssssssssssssssssssssssss! Go find it, it's
for sale at gameboyrecords.com for a mere $6
bucks! What-a-deal!
