Matthew Ostrowski - Vertebra
(Pogus Productions - pogus.com)
[Genres: experimental, sound collage]
Here's one of Pogus Productions' many experimental
audio excursions that is both abstract and powerful. Although there isn't much tune or
melody or even beat, Matthew really knows how to kick some serious musical ass! The start
of the second track begins with a tv show theme-ish sample and quickly moves into a bunch
of abstract electronic crashes and wiggles. This is fun music that doesn't exactly grab
your attention, but goes well as background music the twisted-minded individual. I don't
really see why anybody wouldnt want to listen to such a mysteriously beautiful
album, but then again, my opinion isn't always the most agreeable one. I guess what I'm
trying to say
FIND THIS CD!! You won't be disappointed. (note: this only applies to
open-minded people.) One final note: Ostrowski used to be a dj at WFMU (www.wfmu.org), the legendary freeform radio station.
There are definitely some influences at play here.
