LAM, an ambient Italian duo, has
just shocked the living shit out of me. This is a horridly obscure release on a
criminally obscure CDR label; it's something practically nobody has heard of.
And yet it's completely and utterly beautiful. This release has the power to
move you. It has the power to pull you into the air and then send you to the
ground. It is, quite simply, amazing. Using a plethora of different sounds
from guitars, keyboards, synthesizers, and sequencers, LAM has crafted a gem of an album.
They astound your ears with a barrage of sounds - layers upon layers of breathing,
throbbing noise. And yet it is never harsh, it is contantly soothing, sometimes even
tranquilizing. This draws similarities to bands like Landing, Sonogram, and a few of
the artists on the Touch Records roster. If you are interested in ambient music, you
will definitely love this. In fact, this album should appeal to everyone with an
open mind, as it is an incredibly beautiful piece of music. Quite clearly one of the
best albums of the year, so far.
