Hazard - Wind
(Ash International - ashinternational.com)
[Genres: found sounds, sound art, experimental]
This is a relaxing album on the
Ash International label. Using the sounds of wind and other weather, this cd creates an
aural-environmental soundscape that goes well by your bed at night. The cd starts out with
an eerie, staticy frequency with the sound of wind in the background. Texturally, it's
similar to Fennesz. The use of the concept - wind noises - is extraordinarily well done,
too. The second song has a more abnormal sound to it, which really can't be
explained through words, except by saying that it's both unnerving and hypnotic. You'll
definitely want to include this in your collection if you're an ambient enthusiast. If
you're wondering what it is you're listening to when you're listening to any of the
tracks, fear not - you are not completely in the dark. All the necessary information is
included in the liner notes. As well, the packaging of the cd has it's own beauty, which
is important when bringing a cd to perfection. Check out this eerie, unsettling, yet oddly
relaxing album as soon as you come across it. I can't see why you'd regret it.
